Hi, I’m Heather — a 30-year-old queer woman, born and raised right here in Manchester. Growing up, I often struggled to find spaces that felt truly queer-friendly, inclusive, and owned by members of our community. Most of what was available seemed to revolve around bars or nightlife, leaving a gap for safer, more diverse, and everyday queer spaces. This lack of accessible, genuinely queer-focused resources inspired me deeply.

As a website designer, I realised waiting for someone else to build this kind of resource wasn’t an option. I decided to take action and create MCQ — a comprehensive, easy-to-navigate queer directory dedicated to connecting every queer person in Manchester with the spaces, services, and events that matter most. Whether you’re looking for a safe social hangout, a creative hub, community support, or vital queer-friendly services, MCQ is here to help you find exactly what you need — all in one welcoming place.
